SDI BackgroundFor ten years, Sorensen Design International LLC (SDI) has been supplying motion equipment to worldwide clients in the motion picture, television, and medical fields. Recently, SDI has expanded into the aerospace and amusement park ride areas. Our team is dedicated to providing complete services from conceptual design to final product. We lead the motion control industry in client satisfaction because of our commitment to:
International clients from countries such as Germany, England, France, Korea, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and the U.S. are using SDI's motion control systems. Our customers use this equipment for everything from controlling cameras in U.S. films such as Armageddon, Contact, and Lethal Weapon 4 (see Production Credits), to producing French Television commercials, to manipulating x-ray equipment in hospitals. Michael Sorensen, established SDI in 1989 after having led the Research & Development group at Apogee Productions, a leading special effects company in Los Angeles. He teamed with Richard Alexander, former Apogee owner, who now heads SDI's Prototype Manufacturing operations. With the goal of building a state-of-the-art production facility, Sorensen moved the company to Ashland, Oregon in 1997. This new operation facilitated the re-design of both the Zebra and Gazelle motion control camera dollies for which SDI was honored with a Scientific and Technical Academy Award in February 1999. SDI's film equipment rental company, Motion Control Rental Services, http://www.motioncontrolrentals.com, remains in Los Angeles to better serve its clients such as Paramount, Disney and Universal.
